Featuring orchestral classics and contemporary composers, this series will inspire you. Recently named the most-performed composer of his generation, Mason Bates serves as the first composer-in-residence of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His music enlivens imaginative narrative forms with novel orchestral writing, the harmonies of jazz and the rhythms of techno, and it has been the first symphonic music to receive widespread acceptance for its unique integration of electronic sounds.

Join us an hour before each concert for a free pre-concert talk with the Richmond Symphony Music Director, Steven Smith. These talks often feature guest artists and conductors and provide you with insight into the concert you are about to hear.

This performance is in partnership with the 2019 Commemoration, AMERICAN EVOLUTION™.

Children 18 and under receive free tickets to Altria Masterworks concert (excludes Mezzanine seating, Opening Night, and Special Concerts). Click Buy Tickets to “purchase”.
