SUMMARY:Shaw & St. Georges
DESCRIPTION:Chevalier de Saint-Georges was the first known classical composer of African ancestry\, composing and playing to great acclaim in 18th century Europe. His String Quartet No. 5 is energetic\, complex and an inspiration. In our time\, the music of Caroline Shaw has earned her a Pulitzer Prize. Her Entr’acte perfectly links three centuries through the Chevalier’s quartet to the romantic Third Quartet by Felix Mendelssohn.\nSpecial thanks to our Summer ChamberFest sponsor:
