Packed with humor\, imagination\, and vivid musical storytelling\, this beloved suite introduces audiences of all ages to a charming parade of creatures from the regal lion and graceful swan to playful kangaroos and a curious aquarium. \nWith expressive orchestration and plenty of surprises\, The Carnival of the Animals is a timeless favorite that’s perfect for children\, newcomers to classical music\, and anyone young at heart. \nBring the whole family for an unforgettable journey through Saint-Saëns’ animal kingdom. \n\nBe there for a FREE Pre-Concert Paw-ty – we’re not lion\, it will be turtle-y awesome!\nArrive at 1:45 and journey through the lobby to Mooney Hall for trunk loads of fun! Strut your stuff and try a violin or a trumpet at the Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by Jan Hampton Violins and KBI Music Shoppe! The community partners – Children’s Museum of Richmond\, Maymont\, Richmond SPCA\, and Richmond Performing Arts Alliance – will have activities ranging from making animal masks and matching instruments with animal sounds – to meeting live animal friends! The Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Honors Chamber Ensembles will also perform. \nSwing by for a wild time!
