SUMMARY:Mile of Music at Maymont
DESCRIPTION:Richmond Symphony and Maymont present “Mile of Music!” \n“Go that extra mile” at our second Mile of Music this 2026 season! Enjoy this special concert presentation featuring ensembles from different sections of the orchestra in multiple mini-concerts along an approximate one-mile route within a beautiful natural setting. At this free event\, you can take your time to enjoy some music and movement with family and friends! \nSpread out across Maymont’s spacious lawns\, hear acoustic performances by four different ensembles from the Symphony’s talented musicians\, featuring different groups of strings\, wind\, and brass instruments. Ensembles will perform two times over 90-minutes at multiple locations including the Italian Gardens and outside the newly restored and reopened Maymont Mansion. Guests are invited to stroll to a different location between performances\, so bring comfortable walking shoes\, blankets or portable chairs for a pleasant evening outdoors! \nBe sure to visit our engagement area as well – we will have an Instrument Petting Zoo for all ages to try string and percussion instruments as well as other activities from Richmond Symphony and Maymont. Look forward to seeing you there! \n  \nRoad closures: On Hampton Street there is a short detour near Colorado Avenue [for City roadwork].
