This concert will feature Haydn’s Symphony No. 94\, Gregory Smith’s VIBE\, and John Adams’ Short Ride in a Fast Machine and is narrated by Teddy McPherson. \nBe there at 2pm as the Science Museum of Virginia gives a pre-show demonstration: Listen up! SUMMARY:Haydn's Drum Roll
DESCRIPTION:The Symphony existed before Franz Josef Haydn\, but it was he who formed how we experience it.  He composed an astonishing 104 Symphonies\, with the “Drum Roll” one of his final masterworks in the form.  The Orchestra’s Jeannette Jang plays Haydn’s joyful Violin Concerto in C. This Haydn pairing bookends the energized Zoom! of Shawn Okpebholo\, one of America’s collective of powerful\, young musical voices known as The Blacknificent 7.

DESCRIPTION:This concert for all generations celebrates the inspiring message of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through an uplifting and diverse repertoire featuring spirituals\, hymns and other stirring compositions by Black artists of the past and present\, with an emphasis on Virginia voices. \nThe concert will start with a special welcome from the Black History Museum of Virginia’s Board President\, Dr. Monroe E. Harris\, Jr. The fantastic Brown Ballerinas for Change\, a local social justice organization formed to increase participation of underrepresented populations in ballet\, will perform during the concert. Isaac Wilson\, a talented member of the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Program\, will be a featured violin soloist.
