Composer Margaret Bonds’ Montgomery Variations honors the legacy of the civil rights movement through music that is urgent, lyrical, and rooted in spirituals. Conrad Shaw brings bold sound and playful virtuosity to John Williams’ Tuba Concerto. The evening concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 — rhythmic, powerful, and full of life.
