What exactly would I do?
As the Patron Services Assistant, you will embody the Symphony’s core values of inclusion, passion, quality, innovation and welcoming while working directly with ticket buyers. Your days may be spent taking calls and monitoring ticket orders from patrons, packaging and mailing tickets out, entering data in our ticketing system, or building group sales opportunities. At concerts and events you will work with the public, either at Will Call, Sales, or Front of House contact, ensuring excellent customer service at every point of connection. You may build surveys, and analyze results, helping us create better patron-facing events and concerts. You will help with all aspect of merchandise sales and reporting. You will also help the Symphony maintain orderly office functions, managing office supply orders, processing mail, and ensuring the right marketing materials are in all the right places. This position manages a heavy evening and weekend schedule at concerts and events.
What qualifications and skills do I need?
Highly developed organizational skills, effective time management and flexibility are key attributes. Familiarity in computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft 365 is required, knowledge of or experience in a CRM (Customer Relationship management tool), or ticket database would help completely. Strong customer service skills are a must, and the ability to talk about concert programming with ease and authority would be a significant asset.. Some lifting is required, and the ability to travel to and from different venues and events is required. You must be available to work a robust schedule of evening and/or weekend performances and events throughout the season, as well as on-site at the Symphony offices in downtown Richmond.
What’s the compensation and benefits?
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $32,000. Benefits include health, dental, telemedicine, vision, disability and instrument insurances, a flexible spending or health savings account, flexible paid time off, sick leave, parking, and a 403(b) plan. A combination of in-person and remote work is possible. A strong presence and participation at evening and/or weekend events, concerts and other activities is expected.
