Eugenia Cho

Violin

Eugenia Cho is a passionate and accomplished violinist who has been playing since the age of six. She holds a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Violin Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied under renowned violinists Lisa Kim and David Chan. Eugenia earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, studying with celebrated violinist David Halen. Prior to college, she trained at the University of Michigan’s String Preparatory Academy under the guidance of Stephen Shipps.

A devoted orchestral musician, Eugenia has held concertmaster and principal positions with numerous ensembles, including the Spoleto Music Festival Orchestra, the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra, and the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with distinguished musicians and conductors including Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Oriol Sans (University of Wisconsin–Madison), Dr. Larry Livingston (University of Southern California), Leonard Slatkin (Detroit Symphony Orchestra), and JoAnn Falletta (Buffalo Philharmonic).

In addition to her academic and orchestral pursuits, Eugenia has participated in prestigious summer festivals, including fellowships with the Aspen Music Festival and School, National Repertory Orchestra, and the Idyllwild Chamber Festival Intensive. She was awarded the Audience Choice Award at the PRISMA Festival Concerto Competition in 2025 and will serve as concertmaster for a world premiere performance at the Grafenegg Festival in Austria during the summer of 2026. Eugenia is a newly tenured member of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and joins the Richmond Symphony for the 2026–27 season.

With a deep love for classical music and its transformative power, Eugenia is passionate about
sharing music both on and off the stage and strives to inspire audiences and the next generation of musicians through performance and education.
