Zachary Hommel

Acting Associate Principal Trumpet

Zachary Hommel is currently acting Associate Principal trumpet of the Richmond Symphony. Originally from Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, Zachary completed his Bachelor of Music at Northwestern University in June 2025. During his undergraduate degree, he primarily studied with David Bilger while additionally working with Thomas Rolfs and Michael Sachs. He is currently completing his Master of Music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, studying under Micah Wilkinson, Principal Trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Zachary has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic and is the Second Trumpet of the Akron Symphony Orchestra and Principal Trumpet of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. He has received fellowships to the Chautauqua Music School Festival Orchestra (2022), Aspen Music Festival and School (2023), and Music Academy of the West (2024). In his free time, he enjoys traveling and trying new restaurants with his partner.
