    Altria Masterworks

New World Symphony is the seventh installment in our 2017/18 Altria Masterworks series. This program celebrates the string instruments through popular melodies and infectious rhythms.

This concert is a celebration of friendship, mutual respect, and exploring new lands. The compositions featured from Kapralova, Brahms, and Dvorak are upbeat, dramatic, and exciting. Be transported across the world to the Czech Republic, explore Romani melodies, and experience turn of the century America through the ears of a foreigner.

Join us an hour before each concert for a free pre-concert talk with Richmond Symphony Music Director, Steven Smith. This talk will provide insight into the conductor’s unique connection to the pieces featured, including a story of him seeing Dvorak’s handwritten composition in person.

Children 18 and under receive free tickets to Altria Masterworks concert (excludes Mezzanine seating, Opening Night, and Special Concerts). Click Buy Tickets to “purchase”.
