Conrad Shaw

Principal Tuba

Conrad Shaw joined the Richmond Symphony as Principal Tuba in 2023. A native of Brentwood, TN, Conrad began playing the tuba as a freshman in high school marching band. Conrad went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in music performance at Samford University studying under Demondrae Thurman and a master’s degree in music performance at New England Conservatory studying with Mike Roylance of the Boston Symphony. Conrad has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Symphony and the Jacksonville Symphony. Additionally, Conrad was a fellow at Tanglewood Music Center in 2017 and 2018 and was the winner of the Birmingham Music Club Guild Solo Competition in 2015. In his free time, Conrad enjoys playing golf, practicing mixology, cooking, yoga and spending time with friends and family.
