Delaney Turner

Violin

Violinist Delaney Turner began her music studies at the age of three in her hometown of Richmond, Virginia.  Ms. Turner received her Bachelor of Music degree from Wheaton College in 2018 with Dr. Lee Joiner.  She went on to earn her Master of Music degree from the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 with Professor Sandy Yamamoto.  In addition to her work with the Richmond Symphony, Ms. Turner plays frequently with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra in the Tidewater region, with which she previously served as an orchestra member.

As a Richmond native, Ms. Turner grew up attending Richmond Symphony concerts and participating in the Youth Orchestra Program.  As such, she is thrilled to be joining the symphony alongside members who have served as teachers, friends, and mentors through the years.

Apart from her classical violin work, Ms. Turner is actively involved in bluegrass and Celtic fiddle scenes in the greater Richmond area. When not playing violin, piano, or singing, Ms. Turner enjoys baking and exploring historic sites around Virginia.
