Margie is originally from Minnesota. She started her music studies on the piano when six and the violin when she was eight. She went to Massachusetts for college and graduated with a B.A. in both violin and piano performance from Atlantic Union College. She free-lanced and taught in the Massachusetts area and then moved to Richmond. She became a full-time member of the orchestra in 1997. Along with the symphony playing, Margie teaches violin and piano privately and at St. Catherine’s School. She also has been a church organist on Sundays since high school.
In her moments away from music, Margie enjoys reading, traveling, searching for treasures in consignment shops, and staying focused and calm in yoga class.
